The great American Architect Frank Lloyd Wright once stated:

“I know that architecture is life; or at least it is life itself taking form and therefore it is the truest record of life as it was lived in the world yesterday, as it is lived today or ever will be lived…Architecture is that great living creative spirit which from generation to generation, from age to age, proceeds, persists, creates, according to the nature of man, and his circumstances as they change - That is really architecture.”

Spirit Architecture sets out to conserve and preserve the past where appropriate in a true and sensitive manner as well as adapting and changing buildings or designing new buildings to contribute to the spirit of the present age.

As an Architect Accredited in Building Conservation (AABC) Matthew Hollingsworth has been project architect on a number of key listed buildings around the country. With all projects there is always a focus on adaption and change to suit the current age whilst preserving the most meaningful and valuable parts of the past which give a place its spirit. More and more this means more low impact sustainable design and low carbon solutions to reduce energy consumption. Spirit Architecture acknowledges the close link between long term sustainable design and the building practices of the past as well as welcoming new technologies and solutions that are being developed on an almost daily basis.
